Deposition of Benjamin Peach of Luton, labourer - William Biggs charged with stealing oats

Last Wednesday night he was coming home from the Brach Mill at about 6pm and saw something lying in Mrs Gregory's field. He went to look and found a sack. He took it to George Barrett's in New Town Street and threw it down in the tap room. William Hawkes opened the sack - it was about half full of oats. The policeman was not at home so he told Taylor the watchman.
