- Scope and ContentJohn Palmer: was working in a hay field at Whetstone. He left his coat on a rail. In the pocket was a silver watch guard, 5 shillings, a knife and a pawnbroker ticket for a watch. On his return the coat and its contents were gone. Charles Yeo, police constable: searched the house of Elizabeth Burrell and found a watch in a box in the cellar. When asked where the watch had come from, she said she had bought the pawn brokers ticket from Millner for 5 shillings. Asked about the guard, she said there was no guard. He searched further and found the guard. Burrell said she had paid the same man half a crown for it.
