    John Palmer: was working in a hay field at Whetstone. He left his coat on a rail. In the pocket was a silver watch guard, 5 shillings, a knife and a pawnbroker ticket for a watch. On his return the coat and its contents were gone. Daniel McCasker: met Millner at the Traveller Home beer shop in Biggleswade. He offer him the watch guard and pawnbroker ticket. McCaker declined. On asking where they had come from Millner said a gentleman's sergeant. Lucy Thompson: lived at the Travellers Home in Biggleswade. Her grandmother, Elizabeth Burell, was offered and bought the watch guard and pawn ticket by Millner. Charles Yeo, police constable: searched the house of Elizabeth Burrell and found a watch and watch guard in a box hidden in the larder. Edwin Blunden, police superintendent: took the items into his possession. John Ives: called at the Park Road Public House near Finchley and met William Millner and George Millner. They set off together to look for work haymaking. William Millner asked if he thought the watch guard was silver, he told him he thought it was and Millner talked of a pawn ticket he had and how he needed money to get it out of the shop.
