    Jemima Lorton: lives in a cottage near the Sugar Loaf public house in Marston Moretaine. John Williams came to her house, and asked for beer, he gave her a shilling to fetch some from Fosketts public house. The beer was drunk and Newman joined them. On 2 more occasions Ann Watson was given half a crown to fetch more beer from the public house. Then Williams gave her half a crown to buy eggs, which she gave to Ann Watson and sent her to get eggs from John Hiffe. She later went to bed and did not see then men again. Joel Golding: kept the Leathern Bootle in Cranfield. Thomas Newman purchased a mug of ale with half a crown. Golding noted it a new looking coin and passed it to constable Flint. Charles Flint: confirms receipt of the counterfeit coin from Golding. Ann Watson: confirmed that she had been sent by Jemima Lorton, twice to collect beer from Robert Foskett and once to collect eggs from John Hiffe. Each time being given a half crown to make the purchase. Sarah Foskett: wife of the keeper of the Sugar Loaf public house. William came into the house and had half a pint of beer, paying with a half a crown. Ann Watson later came in twice to purchase beer, with half crowns. Next morning she noted the coins to be bad. Robert Foskett: received from Jemima Lorton, half a crown to pay for some beer. He went with Constable Bates to Steppingley to find the accused. He saw bates search William and find a further 4 half crowns of similar appearance to those passed to him. John Hiffe: was given half a crown by Ann Watson in exchange for some eggs. Sarah Dunkley: was given half a crown by William to pay for beer, at an Inn in Cranfield.
