- Scope and ContentEliza Parton: lives at Pest House, Totternhoe, owned by George Fossey. She came across the accused in the chaff house and told them to be on their way. She then saw feathers and blood on the straw. She set off for Dunstable and passed the men with a parcel. She took the police. On being shown the contents of the parcel she identified the bird. Cornelius Sharpe: along with constable Thorogood, they detained the men. They were carrying a parcel which Robinson threw into a ditch. They said the fowl had been picked up from the road. John Thorogood: agreed with Sharpe's statement. As he was taking William Smith to the cage, Smith told him they had gone to the farm to sleep and would not have killed the bird except they had nothing to eat.
