- Scope and ContentJohn Fletcher: Was foreman to Thomas Smith of Great Brammingham at his Streatley farm. He came across the accused leaving a stable at the farm with a basket on his arm. Fowl go into that stable via a hole in the door. Allan left. Fletcher was later approached by John Millard and asked to identify 2 fowl. He knew them to belong to Thomas Smith and when set down the fowl went directly to the hole in the stable door. John Millard: met with William Allen in Chapel Street, Luton and asked him what he had in his bag. Millard discover the fowls which Allen claimed to have bought. He heard Allen had been at Streatley farm and returned the fowls there to be identified. The fowl when set down, went directly to the hole in the stable door.Statement of the accused - William Allen: claimed it to be the truth.
