    William Ralph Young: was in North End, Leighton Buzzard. He saw John Fench stoop and pick up half a brick. He then threw it violently. It hit a young child, Louisa Reeve, who was standing close to her brother Charles. Charles Reeve: was working in his father's shop. Fench was aggravating him and calling him names. A fight ensued and Fench fell into the gutter. Reeve turned away as he thought it was all over. He then saw Fench pick up a stone and throw it. It hit his 6 year old sister Lousia. Philip Winter Wagstaff: examined Louisa Reeve and found her to have a compound fracture to the skull. He suggested it was caused by a blunt item such as a stone or brick. Louisa was in a state of danger for a week.Statement of the accused - John Fench: Charles Reeve came and beat him and put him in the gutter. He told Reeve he would throw the stone at him if he beat him. He threw the stone and it hit Louisa who was running by.
