- Scope and ContentWilliam Dalton: had sent a pair of shoes to Mr Archer, a shoemaker in Harpenden, to be mended. He never saw them again until asked to identify them. George Munt: was sent by his master to collect shoes left with Mr Archer. He collected them but left them in the cart in a hovel and forgot about them. When he remembered them, they were gone. He spoke to James Holt who asked him if he'd found them as he'd seen them in the hovel. Munt found them in a place he had previously looked. Elizabeth Atwood: James Holt boarded with her. He bought the shoes to her house. She asked if they were his and he said they were. He later removed them. Thomas Warrell: James Holt told him they were his shoes as he had bought them from a man that went through the mill yard. Statement of the accused - James Holt : nothing to say
