    Jonathan Burrell: attended market every day. On returning on 7 April, his servant Elizabeth Bunnage was being visited by her father John. Next day he was visited by William Pangbourn and asked to identify property as his own, which he did. Eliza Burrell: was in Birmingham on 7 April. She identifies the goods as that of herself and her husband. James Wakenell: was Master of the Hitchin Workhouse, where John Bunnage was an inmate. Bunnage had been given leave to visit his daughter in Luton. Next day on the way to chapel, Wakenell noticed John Bunnage's pocket bulging. He searched him and found the items listed. He said his daughter had given them to him. William Pangbourn: attended the workhouse to charge Bunnage. Bunnage told him the items were given to him by his daughter, for him to take to his son's wife. Statement of the accused - John Bunnage: stated his daughter Betsy had given him them to take to his son's wife in Hitchin.
