He is 23 years of age. Born in Wilshamstead where his father Thomas Shepherd then resided. Soon after his birth his father removed to St Paul, Bedford renting tenements of the yearly value of ten pounds and upwards in that parish, where he has ever since lived. He was taught his business as a gardener by his father but has never been bound apprentice. On Tuesday 23 April 1822 he was married at St Paul, Bedford to Ann Castleman.
