    Married about 32 years ago at St Paul, Bedford. Late husband Thomas Marks (who died about five weeks ago aged 53). When he was about 14 he was placed out apprentice by the Harpur’s Charity to Mr Wilson of Daventry, County of Northampton, carpenter, for 7 years by Indenture. When he had served four years and a half at Daventry he disagreed with his Master and agreed to part. He was given his Indentures and came to Bedford. He worked as a journeyman with Mr Teedon, a carpenter in Bedford for the remainder of his time and did not consider himself an apprentice after he left Daventry. About 29 years ago he took a house in Ram Yard, St Paul, Bedford at the rent of four pounds ten shillings and she thinks they paid the poor rates but is not certain. When her husband was hurt she applied to the overseers of St Paul for relief and received relief accordingly. They lived there about a year and a half and about two years after that her husband hired a house on Whitehorse Street, St Paul, Bedford from Mrs Ann Tucker at rent of four pounds ten shillings and continued there upwards of twenty years.paying poor rates. About 28 years ago her husband was in the Bedfordshire Militia serving a month yearly for about 2 years. She has eight children by her husband – William about 30, a Private in the 5th regiment of Foot in the West Indies; Mary 28 years living at Girtford and married to John Walker there; Richard 25 years of age, living at Daventry, bootmaker; Thomas, 23, carpenter at Pertenhall; Sarah, 19, at present unwell and has always lived at home; Elizabeth, 17 years who lived at home with her parents until about 6 months ago when she let herself for a year to Mr Wells the basket maker, High Street, St Pauls; James aged 13 and John aged 10 who have both always lived with their parents.
