His son Samuel when he was about 14 years of age gained a settlement of Bozeat, Northamptonshire by service and has since that time been in several services in different places and obtained a settlement therein, and died unmarried in Little Wymondham, Hertfordshire in 1817. At Bedford Michaelmas 1809 this Examinant let himself to Mr Peter Addington of Goldington for a year as shepherd at the wages of £15 and continued there for two years and received the whole of his wages. In November 1811 he married Sarah Fitzhugh at St Paul, Bedford who died in September 1812. When a widower at Michaelmas 1812 he let himself again to Peter Addington of Goldington as shepherd at the same wages and continued three years and received the whole of his wages. On leaving Mr Addingtons service he was again married on Bedford Fair Day 1815 at St Cuthbert, Bedford to Frances Warren, widow. He had not any child by either of his last wives. He left Carlton Michaelmas 1805 when he and his son William let themselves as yearly servants to Thomas Battams who occupied two farms, one at Lathbury in Bucks, the other at Odell. He served at Lathbury his son William at Odell. His son served half a year when he was obliged to leave his place from ill health and returned to Carlton where he lived entirely until Candlemas 1811.
