- Scope and ContentThomas Kershaw of Biggleswade, corn dealer - Huckle had been in his employment for some years but left last August. Huckle used to keep his books but was not employed to pay money on his behalf as he normally did this himself. In April 1838 he had a running account with William Bailey of Biggleswade, a carrier. Huckle brought him the bill and said Bailey wanted the balance of £12 2s. He gave Huckle the money, who claimed to have paid Bailey. He did not discover the money had not been paid until Bailey brought him in the bill with another bill due on 25 February 1839. William Bailey of Biggleswade, carrier - he never received the money due on Mr Kershaw's account in April 1838, and never received any money from Huckle on Kershaw's behalf. He sent the bill in with the next account due and Mr Kershaw said he had paid it. He had asked James Huckle for the bill several times after he had left Mr Kershaw, but Huckle claimed it was lost.
