- Scope and ContentAbout 25 years of age. Born at St Paul, Bedford. At 14 he was placed out apprentice by the Trustees of Harpur’s Charity by Indenture dated 29 Dec 1806 to Samuel Braybrooks of Kimbolton in the County of Huntingdon blacksmith farrier for seven years. He served about four years of his apprenticeship when on his paying two pounds he gave up the Indenture and enlisted in the Huntingdonshire Regiment of Militia and served in that and the Fifth Regiment of Foot from whence he was discharged 8 Jan 1818. On 12 Nov 1818 he was married at St Paul, Bedford to Mary Chapman.
