    She is the daughter of Jonathan Flanders and was born in St Mary, Bedford in 1738. She lived as a yearly servant for 14 years with Mrs Ann Belsham in St Paul, Bedford. In 1770 she was married at St Paul to John Yates who then resided in a house and kept a small shop at Gamlingay in Cambridgeshire. She lived with him there for four months when they did not agree and she was desirous of leaving him. He told her she was at liberty to do so. She accordingly left him and returned to Bedford where she has ever since resided. Supported herself as long as she could by her own industry as a nurse without any assistance from her husband or ever living with him. He husband returned to reside at Gamlingay, she believes he belonged to the parish of Gamlingay and received relief from that parish. She does not know how he acquired a settlement at Gamlingay.
