About 46 years of age. Born in Hawnes [Haynes] where his father lived. Lived and worked there with his father until he was about 20 when he enlisted as a soldier in the Bedfordshire Regiment of Militia from where he was discharged about 17 years ago. Has since lived in Bedford and worked as a labourer but has never gained a settlement in his own right. About 19 years ago he was married at St Paul Bedford to Elizabeth Stokes by whom he has four children; John aged 10; Sarah aged 8; Samuel aged 6; William aged 3. Has several times received relief from the parish officers of Hawnes.
