- Scope and ContentDavid Dunham: was away from home with his wife, Elizabeth on 1 December 1848, the next day they discovered potatoes to be missing. He advised police constable Scott, and they went to the house of Mary Northwood. On searching it they found the same type of potato hidden in some straw under the stairs. Edward Scott, police constable: Mary Northwood agreed to have her home searched. When asked she stated the only potatoes in her house were the ones in the basin. However, more were found under the stairs. Dunham identified them as his. Mary Northwood: stated she acknowledged taking the potatoes out of the shoemakers house.
