- Scope and ContentHe arrested John Andrews that morning and went with him to the house of his brother-in-law William Roff. While there Roff's sister asked him what he did with the money he received for the things. He answered "I told my wife what I had done with it last night". As they were going down the road to Roff's Coombs said to Andrews they should not have come to him about compromising as he was obliged to mention it to the magistrate - Roff and Sabey had applied to him previously to settle. They talked abut Roff mentioning where he sold the things. Coombs heard him say to Roff "I have done it - and I must go through it. I have disgraced myself and my wife and can't ask you for anything". That morning as he was walking down the High Street with the prisoner they saw Captain Davies (before whom the deposition was being made). Captain Davies: "Then you have confessed about this property?". Andrews: "Yes - I hope you will allow us to settle it".
