  • Scope and Content
He worked for Mr Peacock and brought 3s home on Saturday night which he gave to John Carter. On the Sunday he was there all day until another boy, Thomas Hartop, came and asked if he would go down to the fair with him. He agreed. Hartop asked if he had a few half- pence and he said he had a few in the cup. On Monday morning he took his shirt out of the chair, got some [bread?] and a bit of meat as he thought it was his, tied it up in his shirt and went out. Maria Horrell asked if he was going to leave and he said yes. Then Thomas Hartop met him and they went away together.
