- Scope and ContentWilliam Turvey: bought 8 score of plait from Mary Wells and laid it with his other plait in a room at the Anchor public house in Dunstable. He missed it an hour later, but found it with Mr Roberts plait at Kings Arms public house. He claimed it as his property and gave it to the police constable Sharpe. Mary Wells: confirmed selling the plait to William Turvey. She recognised the plait found with Mr Roberts to be the same plait. William Roberts: bought 8 score of plait from Priscilla Walker and placed it with the rest of his plait at the Kings Arms. It was then claimed by William Turvey to be the same plait purchased by him earlier that day, from Mary Wells. Cornelius Sharpe, police constable: a name and description of the accused was given to Sharpe by William Roberts. He proceeded to Kensworth and took Priscilla Walker into custody. Walker claimed the plait she had taken to Roberts was that of her mother and brothers.
