    Family Settlement Parties: (i) Paul Cobb of Barnards Inn, London, gentleman; (ii) Ursula Barton, widow of Francis Barton, late of Middle Temple, London, esquire; Mary Barton, daughter and heir of Francis and Ursula; (iii) Sir John Kelynge, Lord Chief Justice; John Barton, sergeant-at-law Reciting: - R6/5/4/16; - the marriage duly occurred and Sir John Kelynge paid £2,000 to John Barton; - Francis Barton died leaving Mary Barton as his heir without John Barton having used the £4,000 to purchase land Operative Part: - (i) conveyed (a) to (iii) for £2,900 Property: (a) mansion house or farm called Saint Leonard’s, Bedford; (b) 10 acres of pasture in three closes adjoining (a); (c) 7 acres called Pilcroft “being every years land” (d) 10 acres in Fenlake Meadow; (e) 6 acres in Kempston Meadow; (f) 3 roods of meadow in Longholme; (g) close of pasture called Jewells; (h) 140 acres of arable in Bedford, Elstow, Cardington and Kempston (a)-(h) formerly in the occupation of Lewis Harding, gentleman, now Simon Beckett the younger, yeoman at £80 per annum (i) Saint Leonard’s Fair; (j) farmhouse in Fenlake, Cardington in the occupation of John Strett; (k) 16½ acres of meadow and pasture in Fenlake and Harrowden; (l) 12 acres in Fenlake Meadow; (m) 2 acres in Elstow Meadow; (o) 160 acres of arable in Cardington, Elstow and Bedford; (p) 20 acres of pasture called Benyons; (j)-(p) in the occupation of John Strett (q) lands in Cardington formerly in the occupation of Widow Crump, now John Strett; (r) cottage in Fenlake formerly in the occupation of John Knott, now John Strett; (j)-(r) were held for £84 per annum rent Habendum - to (iii) to the use of Ursula Barton for her life, remainder to Mary Barton and her children, remainder to John Barton for ever Covenant by (i) to levy a fine sur conizance de droit come ceo etc. Witnesses: - John Kelynge junior; - Joseph Nickins; - Robert Hyde; - Benjamin Hawkins
