    Account Book. Labelled on front cover 'Accounts of Money paid & received from January 1800' but actually covering tenants rental 1759-1765, then money paid and received 1800-1803. The later accounts are very good at naming local and London suppliers, tenants and servants.

    At front records yearly details of 'Tenants, what they hold, py annually, arrears, rent, total, payments in money, allowances, total paid and allowed, remainder, notes and observations.' After the total for each year then lists 'rents payable by me'. Contents then change to Observations &cc and money received and when received. As well as notes on changes to tenancies and letting includes such observations as 'A years rent of the three Roses Puddington', 'Damage done to orchard by digging stone', 'use of Hinwick House (while I was in London)', 'sale of auction at Puddington Lodge; live stock sold high', 'Timber (more than usual)', 'for osiers cut in Spring 1801', 'Half a £9 prize in the Irish Lottery: Lost by Prize : £10. '20 Ewes & Lambs: sold by me: not charged to Farming', 'Seven tod of Wool', 'Sale of all remainder of live & dead stock: sold high', Navy Office; on accound of G O's wages dyed a midshipman in Sans-parcil May 8 1800', After a number of blank pages begins Observations &cc and Money Paid. Among various payments for wages, repairs, payments to family, labourers for the year, includes observations: 'Common carpet for parlour', various entries for travel, wine and brandy, hampers every week from Hinwick, 'Subscription to his reading room', cotton stockings, 'fore wheel of chaise broke by a waggon', 'wages in full & three guinea's for wearing his own cloaths', candles, wheat, hay, barley, insurance, 'leather breeches for RO junior', 'Two years garden seeds', 'Journey to London with Mrs O & Orlando & return...Lodging near a Fortnight; Orlando went on board', Orlando stocking, books paper &c, dirk and belt, coat bed, bedding &c for Jamaica Frigate. Uppingham schooling for Robert, Orlando and Frederic, To the Navy Office 'for Orlando's use by order of Capt Mackellar.' thatching, 4 curtains, 'For Orlando going to sea: NB allowed discount of 8s' 'House rent of No 9 Fitzroy Street ner the square', 'Many small articles.
