- Scope and ContentAppointment and grant i) Brownlow , Marquis of Exeter and Baron Burghley, Burghley House, Lincolnshire, K.G ii) Robert Henley, Lord Ongley iii) Henry Scott Turner, Jermyn Street, Middlesex, esquire whereas: by lease and release, being settlement previous to the marriage, of 7 and 8 May 1824, between 1) Brownlow, Marquis of Exeter etc. 2) William Stephen Poyntz, esquire, and Isabella Poyntz, youngest of his three daughters by Honourable Elizabeth Mary, his wife 3) Charles Compton Cavendish, esquire, and Honourable Thomas Cecil commonly called Lord Thomas Cecil 4) Honourable William Ponsonby and William Fowle Middleton, esquire 5) Robert Cotton St.John, Lord Clinton and Honourable William Henry Percy, all the barony of Bedford in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire and Court Leet and Court Baron and all property belonging to 1) in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, in occupations of William Brewer, - Cranfield, - Day, and Lord Ongley were settled to use of 4) for 99 years in trust to raise annuity for Isabella, with limitation to 3) to support contingent remainders, and property elsewhere to provide jointure. All other manors in trust to raise portions for younger children of marriage : issue of said marriage was Honourable William Alleyne Cecil, commonly called Lord Burghley and several other children, and said William Alleyne Cecil was 21 on 30 April 1846 : by indenture of 28 Sep 1848 and enroled in Chancery on 4 October 1848 all property before mentioned were discharged from estate in tail male. All annuities to be charged on estates not in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire : i) caused cottage etc. to be sold by auction at Auction Mart, London (as lot 2) on 8 Jul 1859 and ii) was highest bidder for £520 i) grants to ii) - cottage in Old Warden and sit (2 roods) - fern and plantation wood ground in Old Warden at rear of said cottage (1 acre 3 roods 2 perches) now in occupation of ii) and are held for residue of term of 63 years commencing on 24 Jun 1800, created by lease of same date between I) Henry, Earl of Exeter, Baron of Burghley and II) subject to certain covenants to ii) upon trusts. iii) to support contingent remainders i) indemnifies ii) against any charges under marriage settlement i) covenants to produce title deeds [small plan in margin] with schedule of deeds signature i) endorsed receipt witnesses Robert C.Driver, Herbert Walford
