- will of Francis, 7th Duke of Bedford of 7 May 1861 establishing a trust of which (iv) were trustees;
- death of Francis, 7th Duke of Bedford on 14 May 1861;

- death of John Steel on 15 October 1901 and his will of 27 December 1896 appointing (i), Maria Steel and Leverton Jessopp as executors; proof of the will on 28 October 1901 in PPR; Maria Steel having renounced executorship and Leverton Jessopp having died on 5 February 1900
