    Is anxious as to progress of Ella and Charlie as to their sight. Are no better and 'I think they never will be'. Charlie says he can see well with spectacles and they make him look very clever. Arthur is going same way and has to leave seat at school and go to blackboard to see what is written. 'It is bad enough for the boys but for the girls it is awful'. Ella's lass has proved no end of a pain to her parents, especially Papa 'for she was always his pet'. Charlie stayed with him for a week. Left a fortnight ago. Saw an accident when out driving one night. 'One conveyance run into another… one was turned over, driver thrown out and the horse bolted…'. Outcome is a law case which comes off next week and he has been subpoenaed to attend as witness. Will get a holiday and a guinea for the day.
