    The inventory includes a detailed description of the brewhouse in Bedford Street, Ampthill and malthouses (pp.2-4); an account of the stock of beers (p. 28); details of the company's brewing equipment (pp.32-41); the number of dray-horses and harnesses (pp.42-43); contents of the rooms at the brewery (pp.46-54); and the fixtures in the dwelling house of Joseph Morris Esq. [in Bedford Street], (pp. 55-59). The company's freehold and copyhold public houses and coaching inns are also scheduled, including the occupant's name, a description of the buildings, land usage, acreage, land tax and rent as follows, (arranged alphabetically by place and public house or inn name, including the inventory page number): Ampthill: The Crown & Sceptre, Bedford Street, freehold public house, occupied by Daniel Wiltshire, with a washhouse and room over stabling for four horses and loft, woodbarn with loft and a lean-to piggery; garden, yard and 2a. 2r. 13p. of pasture land, and situated ½ mile from the house, stabling for four horses with loft, poultry house and two horse stable. The granary adjoining belonging exclusively to John Morris is not valued. In the yard is a cottage divided into two tenements with gardens to each and a woodbarn and loft over in the respective occupations of Clark and Hardwick, (p.6) The King’s Arms, freehold coaching inn, occupied by Robert Sexton, with a brick built and tiled stable for six horses with woodbarn over; stable for six horses with loft over; stable for five horses with loft over; newly built stable for three horses with loft over; stable for two horses with loft over and stable; open double coach house and granary over; cellar and corn chambers over; the old materials of a malthouse; yard and gardens containing about ½ a. and a small pightle, and a house and shop adjoining occupied by Ellis Hatter. The premises were held of the Hospital of St. John the Baptist of Bedford, during the lives of Thomas Barnes, James Barnes and James Barnes, the son of Thomas, at 10s. p.a., (p.26) Clophill: The Compasses, freehold public house, occupied by James Horn, with a yard containing a range of substantial buildings consisting of a wash house, a four stalled stable, standing for six horses with a loft over; a garden and orchard, and two enclosures of meadow land near the premises containing together 7a. 0r. 23p., (p.16) The Flying Horse, freehold public house, occupied by James Maddams, with a seven stalled stable, small garden barn, granary and other outbuildings and a small pightle. The separate property of Joseph Morris, (p.10) The White Horse, freehold public house, occupied by Josiah Denny Roote, with stabling for ten horses, barn and small cottage in the yard and ten acres of pasture land lying contiguous to the house, (p.9) Dunstable: The Red Lion Inn (freehold), High Street, occupied by Thomas Shaw, the house contains numerous apartments with every requisite domestic convenience and the outbuildings comprise a four stalled stable with sleeping room over, two six stalled stables with lofts over, a farm yard, double bayed barn and piggery, an open coach house, a bailed stable for 11 horses with a loft over the same, a five stalled stable, a four stalled stable, corn and wood lofts over the stables, poultry house, knife house, laundry, ostrey etc.; attached to this occupation is 18a. 3r. 32p. of arable land situated in the Downs about ¼ mile from the house on the road to Luton; of this 2a. 2r. 32p. is copyhold and the remaining 16a. is freehold. Also an enclosure of freehold land (arable) containing 2a. 1r. 30p. situated on the Ickneild way and an acre of pasture land on the same road; out goings- land tax £1 1s. 8d., quit rent, 5s. 8d., fine, 5s. and heriot, 5s., (p.12) Eversholt: The Falcon or Red Cap, freehold public house, occupied by John Stainforth, with two timber built stables with lofts over, wood barn and a building formerly used as a brewhouse, garden and skittle ground; outgoings - land tax 18s., (p.15) Flitwick: The Black Birds, freehold public house, occupied by John Hensman, with a wood barn, two stalled stable, garden and yard, (p.14) The Crown, freehold public house, occupied by John Walker, with a yard, stable, wood barn, piggery, carthovel and sheds; good garden and an enclosure of meadow land adjoining the house containing 2a. 0r. 9p., also 2a. 2r. 11p. of arable land adjoining, (p.14) Greenfield [near Ampthill]: The Bell, freehold public house, occupied by John Cook, with a yard, garden, woodbarn, small stable, and a piece of pasture land containing about 2a.; outgoings - land tax 14s 5d., (p.15) Harlington: The Sun, freehold public house, occupied by William Lovell, with a small yard and garden; stable and woodbarn; the property being held under mortgage, title for 756 years is considered equal to freehold, (pp.13-14) Heath and Ridge [Heath and Reach]: The Red Lion, freehold public house, occupied by Thomas Belgrave, with a butcher's shop, large yard, stabling for 25 horses and an extensive garden containing nearly an acre. Adjoining the house are two closes of meadow and arable land; the one containing 5a. 3r. 1p. and the other 2a. 3r. 13p. making together 8a. 2r. 14p. This land is the exclusive property of Joseph Morris, (pp.10-11) Hockliffe: The White Hart, freehold public house, occupied by Thomas Reed, with a small yard in which is a range of thatched buildings, comprising coal and wood houses, piggery, slaughter house and pen, cartlodge, stabling for 16 horses with lofts over, and a cow house which was built by the tenant. Included in this occupation is a piece of pasture land containing about eight acres situated about ½ mile from the house on the London Road; outgoings - land tax 16s., (p.11) Houghton Conquest The Butcher's Arms, freehold public house, occupied by Edmund Day, with a detached wash house and yard, stabling for three horses with a loft over, wood barn and two hovels. Adjoining the house is a 2a. 2r. 3p. pasture land and on the opposite side of the road is an Enclosure of pasture containing 1a. 3r. 10p.; outgoings - land tax £1 4s 6d., (p.18) The Chequers, freehold public house, occupied by James Baker, a yard, stable and wood barn, another stable, part of which is converted into a cottage, piggery, cart hovel. In a field adjoining the house is a brick built cottage divided into two tenements with small gardens. There is attached to this occupation two Enclosures of land, one of which is arable and contains 3a. 1r. 34p., the other is pasture and contains 1a. 2r. 14p.; outgoings - land tax £1 7s., (pp.17-18) Leighton Buzzard: The King's Arms, copyhold public house, occupied by Joseph Hopkins, with a small yard and stable, fine arbitrary, (p.25) Marston [Moretain]: The Bell, freehold public house, occupied by Mary Cook, with a stable for two horses, wood barn, double bayed barn, cowhouse and loose stable. Adjoining the house is 3a. 2r. 2p. of pasture land including a garden. About a mile from the house is a piece of land called Ledlington Close containing 5a. 1r. 32p. and 1a. 3r. 27p. of meadow land called Baulks, situated behind the church. Two enclosures of meadow land called Skelton Closes containing together 11a. 3r. 5p. situated about ¾ mile from the house on the Bedford Road on which is an old cottage and a woodbarn. Opposite this public house is a cottage (formerly the Old Bell) with a woodbarn, large garden behind and a piece of arable land containing together 3a. 1r. 19p., outgoings - land tax £3 19s. 8d., (pp.20-21) The Chequers, freehold public house, occupied by William Smith, with a woodbarn, stable and cart sheds, spacious yard, garden and pightle containing together about two acres. A few yard distant from the above is an Enclosure of pasture called Basses Pightle and a little further are two closes of land called Monk's Pightle and Longland's, the former is meadow and the latter arable; they contain together two acres, (p.21) The Three Horse Shoes, freehold public house, occupied by Robert Hardwick, with a good garden and stable which is opposite the house, (p.20) Maulden: The Dog and Badger, freehold public house, occupied by Phillip Hallworth, with a double bayed barn, double stable, cart shed, etc., eight acres of garden ground, five acres pasture land, and nearly two acres of arable land situated at a short distance from the house, (p.17) The White Hart, freehold public house, occupied by Edward Dowdeswell, with a small stable, woodhouse and garden and a pightle of pasture land containing about one acre, (p.17) Pavenham: The George, copyhold public house, occupied by Thomas Harrison, with a yard containing a range of stone built stables and woodbarns, detached mat shop, washhouse and good garden; outgoings - quit rent 1s. 4d., (p.25) Pullox Hill: The Chequers, freehold public house, occupied by John Irons, with a stable, wood barn and small garden; a brick built cottage adjoining, with a stable and bake house in the rear, in the occupation of Benjamin Marston, (p.14) Ridgmont: The White Hart, freehold public house, occupied by Norman Francis, with a capital stable for five horses, garden and a small close of land containing about an acres; outgoings - land tax 9s, (p.9) Salford: The Swan, freehold public house, occupied by Robert Emmerson, with a shoemaker's shop, stable, woodbarn, washhouse, dove cote, garden and orchard, containing about an acre and also 3a. 1r. 15p. of pasture land situated at Wandon, Bucks., about ¼ mile from the house, (pp.21-22) Silsoe: The Star and Garter, freehold public house, occupied by John Haytread, with a stable for six horses, granary, cart shed, four stalled stable, two stables for two horses each, yard and a well planted garden. The property is leasehold for the term of 950 years; it is therefore considered equal to freehold. An Allotment of about ¾ of an acre of pasture land belongs to this house, situated about ¼ mile from the house; 12a. 2r. 19p. of freehold arable land with two tenements thereon situated at Flitton are let to the same tenant; outgoings - land tax £1 8s. 3d., (p.15) Stagsden: The Royal George (freehold), occupied by Thomas Underwood, with a barn, stable and cart hovel, garden and pightle containing together about two acres and eight acres of arable land with three timber cottages thereon; outgoings - land tax £1 5s. 6d. This estate is leasehold for about 1000 years and is therefore considered equal to freehold, (p.19) Toddington: The Angel, freehold public house, occupied by Thomas Spufford, with a small yard and garden, and a four stalled stable; part of this property is leasehold for the several terms of 500 years and 100 years, (p.13) The Queen’s Head, freehold public house, occupied by William Baker, with a small yard and piggery; outgoings - land tax 6s. 4d., (p.13) Wilhampstead [Wilstead]: The Black Hat, freehold public house, occupied by George Phipps, with an open thatched shed and cartlodge, double bayed barn, stable and cowhouse and yard, garden and pightle, and a quantity of arable and pasture land as described below containing about 23 acres, the whole of which is tithe free, description as to quantities etc. from the Welstead [Wilstead] Enclosure: Site of the public house, buildings, garden etc. 0a. 0r. 21p. The Allotments are situated about ¾ of a mile from the house on the Bedford Road and are chiefly arable, (pp.18-19) Woburn: The Black Horse, copyhold public house, occupied by Thomas Pheasant, with a large paved yard enclosed by folding gates containing a newly erected four stalled stable with granary over, cart horse stable for six horses with a loft over, long stable for 12 horses, cartlodge, ostrey, yard and drying ground; piggery erected by the tenant. This house is held of the Duke of Bedford on a lease renewable every 21 years , at the option of either party; the present lease expires at Michaelmas 1827 and the usual fine is £75, (pp.26-27) The Old White Bear, freehold public house, occupied by Thomas Britchnell, with a good four stalled stable, an old stable for 12 horses and a piggery; outgoings - land tax 25s., (p.10) Wootton: The Rose and Crown, freehold public house, occupied by William Biggs, with a cooper's workshop, woodbarn and garden. A few yards distant from the house is a barn and three enclosures of pasture land containing together 8a. 2r. 2p., (p.20) Out- County Bucks: Bletchley: The Shoulder of Mutton, freehold public house, occupied by Ann Willatt, with a woodbarn, stable, garden and yard.
