    Abstract of Title of Frederick Whitlock to land on Aspley Heath with annotations by William Waley acting for the Duke of Bedford’s trustees One Part (I) Conveyance of 6 September 1855 Parties: (i) Thomas Daniels of Aspley Guise; (ii) John Goodhall of Aspley Guise, sawyer Operative Part: - (i) conveyed (a) to (ii) for £45 Property: (a) 1 acre 10 poles of land on Aspley Heath bounded: on the side looking towards Little Brickhill by ground of John Goodhall and Thomas Butcher; on the side looking towards Fenny Stratford by ground of John Dolton; on the side looking towards Newport Pagnell by ground of Isaac Webb, William Webb, Thomas Keens, James Perry, John Jenkins and Gabriel Ireland; on the side looking towards Aspley Guise by ground of Mr Haynes – in the occupation of John Goodhall since 1842 (II) Conveyance of 16 March 1859 Parties: (i) John Goodhall of Aspley Guise, labourer; (ii) Frederick Whitlock; (iii) George Boulton as trustee for (ii) Operative Part: - (i) conveyed (a) in (I) to (ii) for £100 The Other Part (III) Conveyance of 29 June 1853 Parties: (i) James Goodhall of Holloway [Middlesex], bricklayer; (ii) John Goodhall of Aspley Guise, sawyer Operative Part: - (i) conveyed (a) to (ii) for £35 Property: (a) 2 roods, 10 poles on Aspley Heath bounded: on the front by the road from Woburn Sands to Little Brickhill; on the back and one side by a private road leading from the Little Brickhill road to property of Thomas Butcher and others; on the other side by ground of Haynes and ground of John Goodhall – 28 years in possession of (i) (IV) Conveyance of 10 October 1855 Parties: (i) John Goodhall; (ii) Frederick Whitlock; (iii) George Boulton as trustee for (ii) Operative Part: - (i) conveyed (a) in (III) to (ii) for £42 The Remainder (V) R6/3/5/1 (VI) R6/3/5/2 (VII) R6/3/5/3 (VIII) R6/3/5/4 Comments by William Waley on 23 October 1865: “I have perused this Abstract on behalf of the purchasers the Trustees of the will of the late Duke of Bedford” “It should be ascertained that at the respective dates of the Indentures of 29th June 1853 and 6th September 1855 John Goodhall had not a wife to whom he was married on or before 1st January 1834”. “In other respects the title to the several pieces of land to which the abstracted instruments relate is well deduced from the respective dates of the deeds (6th September 1855, 29th June 1853, 5th June 1852) with which the title thereto respectively commences to uses to bar dower in favour of Frederick Whitlock. It appears that no earlier documentary title can be shown”. “A declaration carrying back the evidence of possession as far as practicable (see Mr. Green’s letter annexed to the Abstract and see also the statements as to possession in the abstracted deeds) should be furnished”. “Is the identity of the property purchased with that described in the deeds sufficiently apparent and can the different portions conveyed by the respective deeds be distinguished? If not evidence of identity should be given. The land purchased should be conveyed by a modern description. Part only of the premises conveyed by the Indenture of 5th June 1852 is sold and it is proposed to retain the title deeds”. “The usual searches for judgements &c should be made in the name of Frederick Whitlock”. “If vacant possession is not delivered the particulars of the tenancy or tenancies should be furnished”.
