Discusses social and agricultural matters. Mentions Pierson’s land at Kempston is about to be sold, and that Captain Newland wants to buy all Ransom’s ploughed land but doubts if he will sell any. Also mentions John Marshall is staying abroad to avoid bankruptcy.
Notes that the crops are growing well, particularly the hops and wheat. The fruit and vegetable harvest is good, including pears, apples, abundant plums, potatoes, carrots and peas.
