    Refers to the death of Maria’s mother. Regrets not being with her to provide comfort but she has the consolation of relatives. Discusses the health of their son, Edwin. He has been playing with his cousin Carrie. Mentions he is awaiting the arrival of her note, which will determine his own plans and that their relatives will look after domestic arrangements if he has to be away from home. [Writes again on receipt of her note]. Offers her words of comfort on her bereavement, and mentions if she had not been surrounded by her relatives her would have joined her. Also mentions Jno. Rickman looked “far from strong.” at the meeting.
