About 3 years ago Ruth Parrott came with messenger to Flower de Luce alehouse, Sharnbrook, (then kept by Oliver or Susan Day, now deponent) about 4 p.m.; & Bolton was there till 8 p.m. Has heard Ruth Parrott has been in Bridewell for attempted housebreaking. She was subpoena'd to London to be a witness in case between Bolton & Godfrey about tithes. John Willimott is a day-labourer employed by Godfrey & has 1 cow. Mark Anthony has been parishioner for about 1 year, seldom there. John Aspin gent. resides there when not on H.M. service. Two years ago there was a trial at Bedford between Bolton & Godfrey & Joseph Halt about small tithes. About 1 year ago there was no service on Sun., Bolton having fallen from horse. He believes Tiffin (Bolton's predecessor) made £45 - £50 per annum of the vicarage of Sharnbrook; & that inhabitants of Harrold voluntarily subscribed £20 per annum to his predecessor Mr. King. Bolton is 'a very. sober good man & kind to poor.'
