    Conveyance (grant): Giles Laurence of Bedford, mercer, to Richard Laurence (his son) and Joan his wife; for 40 marks. A messuage in Brigestreat in Bedford in the parish of St Mary the Virgin (lately called the parish of St Peter de Dunstable) lying between the messuage of the King (lately of the Pypwelle Monastery) and the tenement of John Lord Bray, south, and other messuages of the King (late of Wardon Abbey) now in the occupation of Simon Bekett (formerly in that of John Yeoman) north, and abutting west on the land of Lord Bray, and east on the said street; which messuage was conveyed by deed dated 1539 by Edward Wheler, skinner, of London, and Joan his wife (sister and heir of Thomas Crossbye of Bedford, deceased).
