- Scope and ContentRelease and Covenants Parties: (i) Richard Halfhead of Bedford, coal merchant; (ii) Richard Halfhead and Richard Smith of Bedford, butcher; (iii) Thomas Barton of Bedford, butcher; (iv) William Robert Jefferies of Great Barford, farmer Reciting: - WL1000/1/Stev/2/12; - WL1000/1/Stev/2/16; - no surrender was made by (iii) to (ii); - WL1000/1/Stev/2/17; - all principal money and interest due to (i) under WL1000/1/Stevington/2/12 had been repaid to him; - at a manor court of 9 August 1838 (iii) absolutely surrendered (a)-(b) to (iv) by direction of (ii) Operative Part: - (iv) paid £400 to (ii); - (iv) paid 10/- to (iii); - (ii) released (a)-(b) to (iv) Property: (a) messuage opposite Stevington Cross with garden, orchard or sward adjoining of 2½ acres formerly in the occupation of Samuel Risely, then Thomas Barton, now Alexander Field bounded by the village street called Church Street SE, the road from Stevington to Harrold SW. property of Robert Bowyer, Jeremiah Sansom and George Hudson NW and property of Thomas Bunting, Cox, Richard Eaton and (b) on NE; (b) messuage with blacksmith’s shop attached in Church Street adjoining (a) with a large piece of garden adjoining and formerly in the occupation of William Aspley and Richard Eaton, now Thomas Simpson and Alexander Field Covenant - by (ii) to produce WL1000/1/Stev/2/16 to (iv) for inspection and to prove title Witness: - Ezra Eagles of Bedford, solicitor
