Agreement 1. Leighton Buzzard Industrial Co-operative Society, 3, Hockliffe Street, Leighton Buzzard (the Society) 2. Horace Edwin Brooks, 28, High Street, Leighton Buzzard, jeweller (tenant) Whereas: 1. is the owner of 28, High Street, forming part of Leighton House, and wishes to demolish same 2. is tenant of the said premises. 1. intends to convert a building in the High Street adjacent to the said premises occupied by 1., being plan 3584/4 of 15 January 1957 already agreed between 1 and 2. [The plan is not present in this document]. Hereby agreed: that when the building is completed 2. will vacate 28, High Street and surrender the tenancy. 1. will grant to 2. a lease of accommodation in the new building, being the front portion of the new building, and marked ‘jewellers shop and workshop’ on the said plan. The lease to be for 21 years, with the right of the tenant to determine the same at the end of 7 and 14 years. Annual rent £150, the tenant to pay all rates and outgoings, and to maintain and decorate the premises. Witnessed: Albert Henry Smith for 1. Signed by Horace Brooks.
