    Thomas Whitbie, clerk, vicar of Podington, for not catechising when requested to by John Barnes, one of the churchwardens and ‘made a tushe and skorne thereat’ He does not wear ‘typpytt, hoode, and square capp at the time of dyvyne service and for not wearing usually the surplice at tyme of Common prayer’ Oliver Whitbie, son of Thomas ‘for beynge absent from evenyng prayer on the Saboth day and then was taken breakinge or robynge of an orcharde’ . At Bedford, 7 October 1616: Thomas Whytbie presented that ‘uppon Sondaye the 14th day of July he dyd sende to John Barnes one of the churchwardens to forbyde them playinge at stooleball and swearinge’ Barnes refused The children are not catechised because they are not sent; Whytbie has complained to Barnes who had not presented them. Also ‘he hath not a sufficient clarke’ . At Bromham, 16 November 1616: John Barnes and Nicholas Squyer, churchwardens present – Thomas Whytbie for ‘procurynge one Hughes to serve our Cure the 3 dayes of this present moneth of November beyng the Saboth daye not licenced to our knowledge and beying demanded to shewe his licence by one of our churchwardens refused to do the same which is contrary to lawe’ ‘this presentment at Bromham went not forwards’ Endorsed with note of expenses. October – November 1616.
