    (i) Catherine Jones Burton of Cuestling Lodge, near Hastings, relict of Thomas Burton deceased Captain in Royal Navy formerly Catherine Jones Cruchley, spinster (ii) Augustus John Burton Lieutenant in Royal Navy second son of above Thomas Burton and wife Catherine Jones Burton (iii) Orlando Orlebar of Canterbury, Lieutenant in Royal Navy (iv) Helen Maria Orlebar of Canterbury, spinster daughter of Orlando Orlebar (v) John Hawkins Gascoyne, Lieutenant in Corps. of Royal Marines, Samuel Warren Burton of the Admiralty, Somerset House, William Augustus Orlebar of Hinwick Hall, Podington, Richard Longuet Orlebar of Hinwick House, Podington recites: Indenture 1 July 1824 (i) Thomas Burton and wife Catherine Jones (ii) Arthur Loveday, John Williams certain freehold and leasehold messuages (therein described) part of the estate of Evan Jones deceased grandfather of said Catherine Jones Burton were assigned to Augustus John Burton and wife Catherine Jones Burton on trusts. . . .to secure to them £20,000. . . . . whereas: Thomas Burton deceased 26 February 1843 without making joint appointment with wife of the £20,000 Thomas Burton and Catherine Jones Burton had issue four children second son was Augustus John Burton (now over 21) other three children are still living NOW: Catherine Jones Burton appoints to Augustus John Burton who transfers to John Hawkins Gascoyne, Samuel Warren Burton, William Augustus Orlebar and Richard Longuet Orlebar £5,000 being ¼ of £20,000 on trusts. . . . . That in August 1865 £1,082.5s.10d representing the within mentioned sum of £5,000 was received from Court of Chancery pursuant to Order of 9 December 1864 in cause of Burton versus Loveday and after deducting £7.18s.1d. (costs and brokerage) balance of £1,074.7s.9d. was invested in purchase of £1,200.8s.8d. reduced 3% annuity Endorsement: Appointment of New Trustees (i) Helen Maria Burton (née Orlebar) (ii) John Hawkins Gascoyne (iii) Alexander Bradley Burton of West Meon Rectory, Southants, clerk Charles Ranken Vickerman Longbourne of Lincoln’s Inn Fields, Middlesex solicitor Charles Rickards Smith of 43 Cazeneve Road, Stamford Hill, Middlesex surveyor of taxes Henry Northcroft junior of 57 Charing Cross, Middlesex, surveyor whereas: Augustus John Burton died January 1880 William Augustus Orlebar and Richard Longuet Orlebar both deceased Samuel Warren Burton resides “beyond the seas” John Hawkins Gascoyne desires to be discharged from trusts now: Catherine Jones Burton appoints Orlando Orlebar as trustee in place of John Hawkins Gascoyne, Samuel Warren Burton, William Augustus Orlebar and Richard Longuet Orlebar in within Indenture to hold the sums mentioned in the schedule Schedule 1. £4,499.11s. invested on first mortgage of freehold property of James Theobald in Essex at 4% per annum Schedule 2. £1,098.16s.6d. temporarily advanced to Sir John Swinburne Baronet on Equitable Mortgage at 5% In High Court of Justice, Chancery Division. 1889 B.No.3039 In matter of trusts marriage settlement of Augustus John Burton and Helen Maria Orlebar 3 February 1845 between Caroline Catherine Jennefer Burton spinster plaintiff and Charles Ranken Vickerman Longbourne, Charles Rickards Smith and Henry Northcroft, defendants.
