Letter from John Pepiatt to John Orlebar. -- 30 have acknowledged gifts of beef, soap, candles, bread and coals, evidence as to who was responsible for supplying the soap and candles etc. may be discovered by summoning –

Mr. Hawes, Mr. Cave, Mr. Peter Faldo, and Mr. Battison – coalmerchants Thomas Richards senior, John Richards and Robert Richards, John Skelton, Robert Harris – Bakers. William Knight, John Franklyn, Teddon junior, Thomas Walson,Thomas Maddey,William Parker – grocers and tallow chandlers. they have distributed goods in way of trade and not as agents. They have today killed 7 more oxen for distribution, ‘I have planted enquirers in every part of the town’ Duke of Bedford publicly denied that he was concerned in the ‘charity’
