(i) Joseph Barber senior of Ampthill, grocer and wife Mary (ii) Joseph Barber junior of Ampthill, draper, son of Joseph Barber senior (iii) Edward Burford of London, “Syderman”, Richard How of London, linnen draper, Mercy Briggins of London spinster daughter of Peter Briggins of St. Bartholomew the Great, London, tobacconist and wife Mariabella (“Marabela”) Joseph Barber junior is to receive £1,600 as marriage portion with Mercy Briggins a -- messuage in How End in Houghton Conquest late in the occupation of Edward Stringer b -- 4 closes and 3 pightles of pasture adjoining messuage 16 acres c -- 29 acres 1 rood arable and ley and 3 half-acres meadow, in How End and Houghton, late in the occupation of Edward Stringer (described in deeds by which Joseph Barber senior purchased them) d -- messuage in How End and pightles of pasture adjoining 3 acres late in the occupation of John Windmill e -- cottage sometimes called Masons with orchard and pightle of pasture 1 acre in the occupation of George Child f -- cottage in Houghton sometimes called Herveys, with orchard and Herveys Pond adjoining in the occupation of George Gillam all other lands of Joseph Barber senior in How End and Houghton -- premises as in V231. { -- farmhouse in Clifton in the occupation of James Matthews { -- pightle of pasture adjoining 4 acres { -- 29 acres 3 roods arable and meadow described in deeds by which Joseph Barber purchased same [V227] -- messuage in Ampthill fronting east to the Market Place :south messuage George Webb :north messuage - Basse widow in the occupation of Joseph Barber on trusts. . . endorsed: Mr. Brown, Clifton.
