    recites: V205 recites: Marriage Settlement 21 May 1699 (i) William Cumberland of Clifton, gentleman (ii) John Pedley of Potton, senior gentleman and Richard Lee of Potton (iii) John Pedley of Clifton (one of the sons of said John Pedley senior) and wife Katherine (daughter of William Cumberland) marriage of (iii) John Pedley senior had given John Pedley junior £250 and settled messuage and malting in Potton on him and wife Katherine in reversion after decease of John Pedley senior and wife William Cumberland granted to (ii) lands as in V205 and moiety of all other lands etc. of William Cumberland deceased father of William Cumberland in Clifton; to uses . . . . . whereas: said Dorothy wife to William Cumberland is dead said Dorothy wife to Edward Waller is also dead William Cumberland before his death made partition of messuages etc. mentioned in the two recited Indentures into two shares: :for (i) John Pedley and wife Katherine (a) -- messuages and lands in Clifton as in schedule annexed; in the occupation of said John Pedley and William Hanscombe :for (ii) Edward and Jonathan Waller (b) -- 66 acres ½ rood arable in Clifton -- all the meadow from Anditch Balk to the Brooks End -- all the meadow in Redgrass and Eastland as in schedule annexed; now in the occupation of Daniel Poynton; Elizabeth Grey; Lewis York; John Arthur; Richard Endersby, Edward Saunders; Samuel Hills; Samuel Poynton; John Flitton -- also cottage late in the occupation of William Cumberland whereas: for a short time these two portions were respectively held by Edward Waller and John Pedley, but since decease of William Cumberland disputes have arisen and law suits been commenced between William Cumberland and John Pedley senior; they now wish to settle all suits and will before Michaelmas next levy to (iii) fine:- -- lands (a) to John Pedley and Katherine -- lands (b) to Edward Waller for life then to Jonathan Waller and heirs.
