- Scope and Contentwhereas: Thomas Swinglehurst alias Oliver and wife Elizabeth have passed fine Hilary Term 1 James II [1686] to dock entail of 9 acres arable in Clifton, made to issue of Thomas Swinglehurst alias Oliver and wife Elizabeth and have mortgaged the same to John Palmer late of Wilshamstead, taylor, for a long term of years for [£]50 at 6% consideration: £10 paid by George Edwards to Thomas Swinglehurst alias Oliver and wife Elizabeth NOW: Thomas Swinglehurst alias Oliver and wife Elizabeth mortgages said 9 acres to George Edwards by demise for 999 years George Edwards will pay executors of John Palmer £50 and to Thomas Swinglehurst alias Oliver and wife Elizabeth such remainder as will make the sum paid up to £120. Thomas Swinglehurst alias Oliver and wife Elizabeth will in Michaelmas Term next pass fine of:- -- messuage in Clifton which they have in reversion after decease of Joan mother of said Thomas -- 20 acres arable and 9 acres pasture and meadow in Clifton in reversion as above. Witnesses: Thomas Brace, George Brace. 20 September 1689. Receipt: for further sum of £5 in part of the £120 promised to be lent on security within mentioned. Witnesses: Richard Edwards, George Edwards junior signature: Thomas Oliver 25 September 1689. Receipt for £40 and £4 paid to Mr. Brace; sum of £44 6 January 1689/90.
