    Debts and funeral expenses to be paid. - to wife Elizabeth - freehold close called Roundley close in the parish of Luton which testator purchased in fee simple of Mr John Nodes and containing 21 acres, for life and after her decease to eldest son Matthew Gutteridge and his heirs charged with the sum of £100 to youngest son James Gutteridge when James reaches 21 years if wife dies before that time, or within 6 months of wife's death. - to wife Elizabeth out of personal estate £100 for her own use. - to son William Gutteridge and his heirs, messuages and malting in Luton which testator purchased in fee simple from Mr Christopher Eaton and his trustee, together with houses etc thereunto belonging. - to son William Gutteridge £100 from personal estate to be paid when 21. - Executors to carry on and manage tanning trade, and tan yard in Luton, held by lease of Mr Daniel Punter, until son Joseph Gutteridge is 21. Stock to be valued when Joseph reaches 21 years by two indifferent persons understanding in the trade. If stock on valuation fall short of £300 Joseph to be paid the difference from testator's personal estate. If valuation is more than £300 surplus to be paid by Joseph to executors for the purposes of the will. - to youngest son James Gutteridge £200 from personal estate to be paid at age 21. - to sons Matthew and Richard Gutteridge and daughter Deborah Smith, wife of Thomas Smith "my three children by my former wife" £30 each to be paid within 12 months of testator's death upon condition that they release executors from payment of legacies under the will of their late grandfather, Richard Gutteridge "I having already sufficiently answered the same as also given to each of them sufficient portions upon their respective marriages". If neglect or refuse to release executors then legacy void and not payable. - to sons William, Joseph and James one feather bed each and two pair of sheets. - to wife Elizabeth one feather bed, two pair of sheets and all the furniture of the room wherein I usually lie (except the hanging press there) but not the linen or other things that may be contained in the chests or other furniture. - wife and son Daniel Gutteridge to manage and carry on the farming and husbandry business and residuum of personal estate and receive rents of the messuages until son Daniel is 21 for the better clothing, maintenance and providing for said wife and children now in their minority. Wife not to take rent for the land given to her for life but to use in same way as other rents. Wife to live with and assist Daniel in the farming and husbandry after he is 21 so long as he remains single and Elizabeth remains a widow. Once Daniel is 21 the interest of the respective legacies to children still in their minority to be applied to their respective maintenance and support until legacies become payable. - guardianship and tuition of children to wife Elizabeth so long as she live and continue a widow. If she dies or remarries then sons Matthew and Richard Gutteridge or the survivor of them to be guardians instead. - residue to son Daniel. Wife Elizabeth (so long as unmarried) executrix in trust. Son Daniel executor. If Elizabeth remarries sons William and Richard to become executors in trust and son Daniel to give such security to them for the payment of younger children's portions as they shall think fit. - sons Matthew and Richard trustees of will "desireing them to assist and advise my said wife and son Daniel during my said wifes executorship. - friend Samuel Marsom of Luton, linen draper, overseer of will. - Executors fo all trusts to receive all reasonable charges and expenses for performance of trusts.
