    (i) Sir Humphrey Monoux of Wootton baronet. (ii) Sir John Cotton of Connington, Hunts., baronet and Sir Robert Connington of Hatley St. George, Cambs., knight. (iii) Humphrey Monoux esq. eldest son of Sir Humphrey. Recites that a marriage has lately been had between Humphrey Monoux and Alice Cotton. £4,000 of her portion has been paid, £1,000 remaining [see Marriage Settlement]. Sir Humphrey stands bound to Sir John and Sir Robert 7 July last. Agreed that if Sir Humphrey lays out £9,000 (i.e. Alice's portion and £4,000 added) in the purchase of lands in the space of the next three years and settles them on Humphrey the bond shall be void. Witnesses: Nicholas Pedley, Joseph Horsnell, Oliver Johnson. Seals: 3 tags only - the Cottons and Humphrey Monoux.
