Annotated throughout in pencil, ink and indelible pencil with sales, particularly the Christies sale of 1917 and whereabouts in 1920.
Bound in at the front:
Manuscript notebook showing picture hanging layout on the walls of The Great Room, Middle Room, Front Room, Back Room, First Library and Lady De Grey’s Dressing Room. With corresponding lists for each room and also for the 2nd and 3rd libraries and Lady De Grey’s sitting room and pictures not hung up. Undated, paper watermarked 1825.
Bound in at the back:
- manuscript inventory of the Back Library and the Orange Room showing position on each wall of each picture.
- list of pictures sold 1898
Additional note on Number 48 in the printed catalogue bound in to face that entry. Additional note on Number 68 loose. Both notes appear to have been written at the same time c1853.
Typescript note on four pictures. c.1920[?]
Bound in red straight grained Morocco with blind and gold tooling to front and back boards, gold roll to the board edges. Title “Pictures. St. James’s Square” tooled in gold in middle of front board. The book has been rebacked and the corners repaired probably in the Twentieth century.
