“You told me at our last meeting that Fawne did acquaint you that Bredyman’s heir had a title to some of my lands in Podington, which hath depended in the Court of Wards ever sithence 5 Jas., till the last term, and nothing done in it but witnesses examined in 11 Jas., and the last term ordered that I should show cause why publication should not be had, and a hearing had the next term. My desire is that, considering the dormancy of the cause, and my age and infirmities considered, the cause may be stayed for me to examine further witnesses or else to be dismissed...... My nephew Child will make you acquaynted with all the proceedings herein, and what directions it shall please you to give he shall follow; and so likewise for Fawne’s cause [see OR1230-1262] and so, leaving you to the tuition of the Almighty, “Yours to command.” 19 January 1620/1. Endorsement from Henry Yelverton to two persons, asking them to brief counsel “for I am now of kin to the land, my son having married the heriess who is to have it after Mr. (?) Payne’s death.”
