Plans Submitted With Applications For Planning Permission Biggleswade Rural District Council
  • Scope and Content
INTRODUCTION This series of plans and accompanying material deals with the current District of Mid Bedfordshire. Before Local Government Reorganisation in 1974 the area comprised the following authorities: Ampthill Rural District Council; Ampthill Urban District Council; Biggleswade Rural District Council; Biggleswade Urban District Council; and Sandy Urban District Council. The plans were submitted to the District Council for planning permission and the District Council referred them to Bedfordshire County Council for comments on those areas for which the County Council was responsible, for example, the effect on lines of site of adjoining roads. Each entry gives the following details where known: the parish and location within it of the proposed development; the type of development; the owner of the land; and the architect responsible for the plans (the latter in brackets). Three symbols are used to denote types of accompanying material, in some cases this may be the only documentation that has survived for that particular application. The symbols are as follows: * photographs of the site/development; + land use plans, generally Ordnance Survey maps of the parish with areas coloured in to show varying types of land use, e.g. agriculture, public open space, commercial, industrial etc.; app correspondence relating to an appeal against refusal of planning permission.
