Dear Mr Trachsler, I acknowledge with thanks your letter of the 12th February and thank you for your kind congratluations on my election as Mayor. I am much obliged by your suggestion of funds at the Banca Commericale Italiana in Rome, this will suit me. We are arriving in Rome on the 7th April and staying at the Hotel Flora. I assume that you will send to me some letter of authority by which I can obtain the funds at the Bank. With kind regards from both of us to both yourself and you[sic] wife who in due course we hope to see again. If you should contemplate coming to England, do not fail to let us know, when we should be pleased to welcome you. Yours sincerely, H C Janes
