  • Scope and Content
Dear Mr Janes, First of all I would like to wish you a very Happy New Year. I hardly like to mention your voyage but I do hop that your holiday during the next two months will make up for the journey you have just made. I am sorry to have to trouble you so soon but there are one or two things I thought I had better write to you about. 1. The letter which you were expecting from Irwin Wheeler arrived on the 29th December. I enclose this letter together with a copy of my reply. I hope this matter is in order now and will leave it with you. 2. I enclose a copy of letter received from Reverend Wigley of the Free Church Council. You will notice that he asks for an article for publication in the Chronicle. I also enclose copy of the reply which I have sent. It was a pity that this letter was not received a day earlier, so that you could have seen it before you left as it may have been possible for you to have written something on the journey - but perhaps this would have been an impossibility. Would you please let me know what you think about this. Since writing to Mr Wigley I have again thought about the matter and I think it is too much for you to do this, especially as you are on holiday. However, I will wait to hear from you. 3. I enclose a letter from Reverend S C Bastable giving you some information about Jamaica. I have acknowledged this. 4. I enclose letter from Mrs Knight addressed to you and Mrs Janes. I opened this letter but will not send on the envelope - it will perhaps save a little weight. I think this is all for now and I hope it will not be necessary for me to trouble you very much during the next two months but I will write and let you know how things are progressing. At the moment everything at the Office seems to be alright. I am today posting on to you last week's " Luton News" and I hope it arrives safely. With kind regards to you and Mrs Janes. Yours sincerely Joan Smith.
