Dear Mr Wheeler, My son in law, Harold White, tells me that you are leaving shortly to go to Paris and I understand that you have been enquiring through Mr John Gibbs as to what my plans were about the money. As it happens, my wife and I are going to the West Indies at the end of this year and will be returning home next March via Miami and New York. I should like to be able to avail myself of the money on that occasion. There appears to be no easing of the situation for English visitors. We should, our course, have liked to spent some little time in the USA but that does not seem possible. We are travelling that route because the Steamship Line cannot give us return passages ant the route via the United States seems the only possible way, other than flying, of getting back home. It seems a pity when we are in the United States not to spend some little time there but that doe not seem to be possible. However, the money will be useful and will enable us to have at least a few days and I should be glad if you would kindly let me know what arrangements could be made for me to pick the money up. It is in my mind that we might travel through the island of Cuba rather than fly over it. Cuba, I think, is in the Dollar area and therefore it is a question as to whether the money should be available in Cuba or at Miami. Would it be possible for us to be able to pick it up, for instance, before we leave Jamaica? I hope this is not putting you to too much trouble but I feel greatly indebted to you for your help and consideration. Yours truly, H C Janes.
