- TitleInjunction by the Court of Exchequer for stay of tithe action in the ecclesiastical court. George Francklin, esquire, exhibited his plea against John Smith, clerk, showing that St Albans Abbey was seised of the parsonage of Milton Ernest, and Elstow Abbey of part of the tithes of some arable land there called Bassetts (300 acres), which came to the Crown, and thence to complainant at fee-farm rent of 5s; and defendant has brought suit against George Franklin for said tithes in the ecclesiastical court. Plaintiff's case was upheld; Elizabeth leased the tithes to John Archer, 1573-1574; and Robert Toll, late vicar of Milton Ernest, farmed them.
