    On Conditional Surrender (out of court) 28 November, 1767, by Sir Thomas Stanhope of Jermyn Street, parish St James, Westminster; and Edward Rudd of Biggleswade, gentleman, grandson and heir-at-law of Edward Rudd of Biggleswade, gentleman, deceased to said Robert the Great Uncle: -- --- 2 messuages in Biggleswade called The White Hart (3 burgages). -- ----2 cottages occupancy John Crick and widow Cooper. --- ---2 acres 3 rods meadow in a common meadow called Horse Croft, Long Mead or Ray Mead. --- ---94 acres 2 rods arable dispersed in the fields of Biggleswade. --- ---Close of Pasture called Whites Close (2 acres.). -- ----Several pieces of meadow (3 acres 1/4 rod). All surrendered to Edward Rudd the grandfather in court, by his late father William Rudd, 9, 10 April 1706. --- ---Close of arable and pasture (so much as is copyhold) called Delves. --- ---17 acres arable in the common fields. --- ---1 acre meadow in Long Mead. --- ---2 acres arable in North Field. --- ---2 pieces arable (18acres) in common fields, one on Hunger Hill near Hunger Hill Piece in South Field, the other in Holm Side Field South of London Road. All purchased by Edward Rudd the grandfather of Richard Lee of Clifton, gentleman, son and heir of Matthew Lee of Potton, gentleman deceased son and heir devisee of Richard Lee of Potton, gentleman, deceased. --- ---23 acres 3 1/2 rods arable dispersed in the common fields purchased of Edward Bray. --- ---A messuage in Langford End Street, occupied Widow Pratt, purchased of George Norman. --- ---10 acres arable dispersed in the common fields. --- ---The stable, granary and garden lying behind the White Hart Inn. All other Copyhold premises surrendered by Heylock Kingsley and wife Elizabeth and Ann Reading to Thomas Stanhope, 9 August 1748. Also: -- ----A messuage and malting or brewhouse in Langford End, occupancy Francis Winn the elder, afterwards of John Pratt then of Edward Rudd the grandson; surrendered by George Newman to Edward the grandfather in court 18, 19 October 1731, followed by Admission of said Edward; --- ---A Pasture called New Pasture or the Sheepwalk with common for 170 sheep and all manner of cattle 'without stint' late occupancy Edward, the grandfather. Also: On Conditional Surrender (out of court) 28 November 1767, by Edward Rudd the grandson to Robert Thurgood the great uncle: --- ---A piece of meadow or pasture in a place called Hitchmead (12 acres mead measure). --- ---3 pieces of Lammas Meadow or Pasture called Horse Croft (2 acres mead measure) occupancy Edward the grandsson. Each Surrender subject to redemption; £4500 ('one and the same sum and not divers sum'). Neither principal nor interest being paid, the interest of Robert became absolute. Robert died January 1775 without having been admitted, his eldest brother and heir-at-law Thomas also died as did Thomas's eldest son and heir Robert, leaving his nephew and heir-at-law Robert Thurgood of Wheathamsted, Herts., baker (eldest son and heir of John Thurgood of Baldock, labourer, deceased who was brother and heir appt. of Robert the son and d. in his lifetime). Rents, £2 14s. 7 1/2d. Fine 18s 2d. Admission. John Winn of Biggleswade, farmer. On surrender of Robert Thurgood, the greatnephew (at request of Isaac Hindley, executor of Thomas Barnes who was surviving executor of Robert the greatuncle; and of Richard Edmund Rudd, eldest son and heir of Edward Rudd the grandson, and of Margaret Rudd his widow and executrix.) and of said Richard and Margaret. --- ---A piece of arable in Town Field (6 acres 3 per. exclusive of the road crossing the same) called Christy's or Stanley's Piece, crossed by the road leading from Races Lane across the Turnpike road towards Potton, the road from Sun Inn to Potton North. John Barber, East, John and John Bricheno, South, the Turnpike Road and a cottage and garden of William Rands, West being part of the premises to which Robert was first admitted before this Court.
