    --- To wife Joan, £400, all the household stuff she brought with her and much of the testator's household stuff as she shall choose to furnish her own house, and as much plate as she chooses (except testator's tables and bedsteads in testator's house). Thomas and John Hamond his son shall pay her £10 to buy bedsteads. Also 2 of best cows, 2 of best hogs, and bread and drink corn for 12 months, straw and stover for her cattle ' until her own crop be inned', and 1/2 testator's firewood, to be carried to her house in Pirton by executors, and all testator's 'pullen and pultrie'. Thomas Hammond to plough yearly and till her lands in Pirton fields, 'being her own lands', and to carry crops etc. for her for life provided that she does not remarry. Thomas to have the chaff for himself, and he and son John to deliver to her house a cartload of good hay yearly during her life (same proviso). Joan to find the seed, and she is to release to Thomas and John all her rights of dower or forfeit the £400. --- to Robert son of Robert Hammond, brother of the testator, deceased and to his son Robert, the lease held of the College of Eaton, provided that they allow Thomas and John to have the rents and profits until Michaelmas after the decease of the test, provided that Thomas and John do not sell or cut timber, and provided that if any of the College lands occupied Thomas Hammond and William Sam are tilled at the time of the testator's decease then Robert and son Robert are not to meddle with the crops. --- to Robert son of brother Robert deceased £200 to use of his two children, and also £200 more. Neither Robert or Robert his son shall take any fine from Michael Hammond, son of Michael Hamond deceased kinsman of the testator for first admittance to any lands surrendered by the test. or by Thomas Hamond his uncle belonging to the college of Eaton, on pain of forfeiting the £200.--- To cousin John Hammond, son of brother Robert deceased £100 --- to John and Thomas Campkin, sons of Beatrice Campkin widow, £20 each, and to her daughter Elizabeth Campkin £10 --- to testator's sister Cicelie Thame, widow 20s --- to sister of Christopher Browne, late Hitchin deceased £20 --- Joan Brockett, daughter of Edward Brockett, £100 when of age or married. --- Thomas Man, £200; James Man senior. £160; James Man junior £40 --- Joan Ashby, daughter of Thomas Ashby, £20 when of age --- two sons of Thomas Ferrain, John and William which he had by Martha Hanscombe, £20 each --- to William Hanscombe, son of sister Alice, £50 --- to Frances daughter of sister Elizabeth late wife of Henry Lynniger and now wife of John Barnesham, £20, and to 2 sons of Henry Lynneger deceased £20 each and £20 to each of his 2 daughters --- Anne Hamond wife of Robert Penny, £40 --- Elizabeth Hammond, wife of Richard Adams deceased £40 --- Agnes Brockett, daughter of Catherine Brockett, widow £40 ---Edward Sheppard £200 --- Sarah Smith, daughter of sister Mabel, wife of George Page, £30 --- Gawyn Pate £20 --- three younger children of Elizabeth Smith, daughter of sister Mabel which she had by Thomas Sheppard, £20 each --- 2 children of which she had by Nicholas Keepe, £20 each --- William Lewis, testator's mother's sister's son, £30 --- five children of Luke Gaddesden gentleman deceased - John, Luke, Edward, Anne and Mary £10 each --- to poor of Parish of Pirton £100 to be put out at 6% interest, the £100 to remain as permanent capital vested in land, the interest to be used for apprenticing poor children of Pirton to an honest trade. --- the widow Smith to dwell rent free for life, and "" Arnold likewise (Pirton cottages), and other poor persons to dwell rent free in these 2 tents for ever. --- Thomas Hamond to convey to Michael Hamond son of Michael deceased, Martin's Close, Pirton, purchased by the testator and Thomas from George Copcott.--- Joan, the testator's wife to convey the same, 1/2acre, part of a close which Thomas purchased of Joan in her widowhood, on pain of forfeiting £40 -- Thomas to surrender the same the messuage in which Thomas dwells in Pirton and all copyhold lands belong. to College of Eaton held by Thomas (except 1rod arable in Goldcrofte adjoining lands belonging to close St. John's College, Cambridge), and Martin's close (1acre) and Long Close which descended to him from his father, and other copyholds held of Mr. Docwra, Manor of Pirton, by Thomas. Thomas to leave at his house for the benefit of Michael all tables, bedsteads, brewing vessels, benchboards etc. --- to 4 youngest children of Michael Hammond, kinsman of testator, deceased, £50 each --- to Beatrice Ansell daughter of Michael Ansell £10 and to his 3 youngest sons £10 each --- towards repair of Pirton Church 40s --- 20s over and above wages to all household servants dwelling with the testator at time of decease. --- to kindred of Thomas Field deceased father in law of testator's wife Joan, £40 --- residue of personal estate to Thomas and John Hammond who are to be executors. Overseers: Gravely Norton Esq., John Skynner Junior, and James Hanscombe. --- to Gravely Norton and John Skinner £10 each. Witnesses Henry Denne, James Hanscombe, J. Gaddesden, John Potter. Schedule annexed: To minister Mr. Denn, £10, to testator's wife £40; Robert Hammond senior £100: Gowen Peete £30; Nicholas Keepe £40; £5 to poor of the town; Thomas Hamond to pay £4 p.a. to Edward Sheppard for 6 years and to Mr. Denn half his house rent as long as he lives in the house where he now dwells.
